To integrate conservation into local sustainable development. |

|
Throughout the years, we have gained extensive experience in project management. We have developed the Carpathian Large Carnivore Project (CLCP), an international research and conservation project with about 15 staff and over ten partners in various countries. As a consequence of the success and the new approach of this project, WWF International has asked us to write a manual for integrated field projects.
We have further developed guidelines for the development of large carnivore management plans for the Large Carnivore Initiative for Europe (LCIE). These guidelines are based on our experience in the development of a wolf management plan for the Ministry of Environment in the German state of Brandenburg. Within the CLCP, wildlife management is one of the key issues of our work.

A focus on Wildlife Management
Wildlife management can include the whole range from complete protection to eradication. Yet, wildlife management has to take both, the people and wildlife into consideration. Only those solutions are sustainable, which help in achieving a balance between the different interests and which satisfy the needs of the local people and the competing natural elements.
